Vet Connect
Come talk with other veterans and reservists.
Share experiences, support, information or just connect.
Dear Veteran or Reservist,
Vet Connect is a set of various places and times for veterans to get together with other veterans and talk. We know from experience, and yes, even research, that one thing that helps veterans feel better whether they have been injured or are just readjusting to being home is talking with other veterans. Whether you just need to find some resources, you have war trauma, sexual military trauma, having trouble getting some benefit, or whatever, one of these meetings might be a place where you can get some information, some support, a pat on the back, or a laugh over a story or two. Try a group or two and see what you think.
Vet connect is not meant to be a therapy or support group, but likely support can be found with other veterans who understand at least some of your experiences. Sometimes even loved ones and friends have a hard time relating to a veteran’s experiences. That’s normal and okay, but sometimes you just might want to meet with some other veterans who can just “get it” more easily.
If you don’t find a place, time, or group that feels right to you, let me know. Maybe more can be added as we go. Maybe you are a spouse, friend or loved-one of a veteran who is looking to connect to other spouses, loved-ones, or friends of veterans. If you are interested in that, call me. Maybe we can develop a group like that. I plan to be at most of these meetings myself and if I am not, I will try to have a volunteer there to greet folks who show up.
Sincerely,
Diane Adams Nakamura
